Arizona — Tucson Unified School District

FFRF AF endorses Dr. Ravi Shah in re-election bid for Tucson Unified School Board

Dr. Ravi Shah is running for reelection to the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board (TUSD), representing the second-largest school district in Arizona. Dr. Shah was the first openly gay member elected to the TUSD Governing Board in November 2020 and has been endorsed by Victory Fund in his reelection bid. Dr. Shah identifies as a humanist and has consistently fought against proposed policies that give preference to religion. Due to its size, Dr. Shah’s school district has been a perpetual target for those who want to religiously indoctrinate students. Dr. Shah has strongly advocated against these practices and has worked to uphold the constitutional separation of state and church in Arizona’s schools.

Dr. Shah is a community family physician and is a proud father of three TUSD students. He previously served as the medical director of a program that provides free care to underserved communities in Southern Arizona.

Dr. Shah has continually fought for FFRF’s values as a school board member. Dr. Shah will be up for reelection on November 5th. Please find out more about him by visiting his campaign website.
