FFRF AF endorses Nasreen Johnson in bid for Fresno Board of Trustees

The FFRF Action Fund is pleased to endorse Nasreen Johnson in her reelection bid to the Board of Trustees Area 2 of the State Center Community College District.

Johnson identifies as an atheist and a member of the freethought community. She has continually fought to support and strengthen policies that protect secular values, including comprehensive sex education, abortion care, unrestricted library materials and diverse community groups on campuses — including drag performances.

In response to the Fresno County Supervisors’ decision to restrict access to materials in public libraries, Johnson endorsed a resolution within her community college district to affirm the essential role of professional college librarians. The resolution also aimed to protect the diverse materials available in Area 2’s college libraries, ensuring they remain accessible to all community members.

Johnson, a resident of Fresno for over 25 years and a graduate of the Fresno Unified School District, was the first person in her family to graduate from college. She graduated from Fresno City College with an associate’s degree in liberal arts and from Fresno Pacific University summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business management and an MBA in global business. Johnson currently works for a local company in community relations and external affairs. She has extensive experience in the communications sector. She is heavily involved with community relations, receiving multiple awards for her work in her community, including her efforts to build a fully accessible sensory garden for students with special needs.

Johnson will appear on the ballot in November against one other opponent. This will mark her first election as an openly LGBTQ+ candidate. The FFRF Action Fund joins the Victory Fund in endorsing Johnson.
