Speaker Mike Johnson cited his personal biblical beliefs on January 14th while celebrating the House passage of a bill banning transgender students from girls’ sports.
He made the comments following the House’s passage of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. All House Republicans and two Texas Democrats voted in favor of the bill, which bars transgender athletes from competing in girls’ and women’s sports from elementary school through college.
