Colorado Senate

Rep. Judy Amabile, District 18

The FFRF Action Fund is pleased to endorse state Rep. Judy Amabile, who is running for the Colorado Senate District 18 as a Democrat.

Amabile exceeds all of the FFRF Action Fund’s criteria for endorsement, which includes a viable path to victory, support for reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy, support for the separation of church and state, and for policies aligned with this constitutional principle. Amabile is even scheduled to appear on a legislative panel at the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s annual convention in September. (Don’t forget to register!)

Amabile has a history of electoral success, having served the last four years in the Colorado House of Representatives. During her time in the House, Amabile has been a champion of reproductive and LGTBQ-plus rights. The current Democratic senator for District 18 is term-limited, opening the door for a new face to represent a district that heavily favors Democrats.

Numerous local political leaders and organizations have endorsed Amabile, including U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser and multiple legislators in the Colorado Statehouse. She also has endorsements from various organizations, including Boulder Progressives, AFL-CIO and the Colorado Education Association.

Amabile is determined to uphold secular values, opposing the religious right’s efforts to enforce its ideologies on matters of personal conscience and autonomy. We’re delighted to endorse Amabile’s run to become the new state senator for Colorado’s 18th Senate District, and encourage all of our advocates in her district to vote on Nov. 5 to send her to the Senate. Find out more about her candidacy at her campaign website.
