The FFRF Action Fund is pleased to endorse Allison Hougland in her bid for the Kansas House, District 15.
The district is an extremely close swing seat, with margins of a couple of hundred votes, and Hougland is a House focus of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, which asserts that the Kansas House is close to breaking its GOP supermajority in 2026. Hougland was elected to District 15’s seat in 2022, replacing the longtime Republican incumbent, but lost in her 2024 reelection bid by 100 votes. For her 2026 campaign, she has already surpassed her $50,000 fundraising goal.
Hougland supports the constitutional separation between state and church. She wants to end the Kansas Legislature’s prayer practice and told FFRF Action Fund staff that she recited Scripture to the full Legislature to highlight its hypocrisy in ignoring the needy.
Hougland noted that as the state representative for District 15, a working-class district, she would represent the underrepresented and the underpaid — an undertaking she holds in high esteem. Top priority issues for District 15 include the cost of living, property taxes and public funds going to a robust public school system.
The FFRF Action Fund joins the Kansas National Education Association, Emily’s List, Tri-County Labor, Everytown for Gun Safety, Cannabis Justice Coalition and others in endorsing Hougland.
