FFRF Action Fund announces its endorsement of Garner Moffat in his reelection bid to the Superior (Wis.) City Council, District 3. Moffat was first elected to the city council in 2023 and will appear on the April 7 spring election ballot.
Moffat is an atheist and firmly believes in the separation of state and church. Moffat shared with us that state/church issues do not often come up at the local level, but he does actively honor the constitutional principle and, when applicable, in his work. Moffat identified one state/church issue at the Superior City Council: the council’s unanimous approval of a citywide ban on conversion therapy in 2019.
Moffat is active in connecting with his community in Superior, focusing on bridging relationships with a wide range of people in his district. He works to connect with his constituents online and routinely appears in local newspapers with opinion pieces relevant to Superior. One of his main focuses on the city council is lowering utility costs for Superior’s residents.
FFRF Action Fund joins Fair Wisconsin, Douglas County Democrats, Lead Locally and various Democratic municipal officials in endorsing Moffat.
