FFRF Action Fund endorses Wisconsin state Rep. Amaad Rivera-Wagner for reelection

The FFRF Action Fund is pleased to endorse Wisconsin state Rep. Amaad Rivera-Wagner for reelection to Assembly District 90.

Rivera-Wagner was first elected to the competitive swing district, covering central and eastern parts of Green Bay, in 2024 after new redistricting maps took effect. Notably, every ward in the district flipped blue in the last state Supreme Court election. Rivera-Wagner was elected to the district during a Republican wave for President Trump, and is the first openly gay person of color elected to the Wisconsin Legislature. He is running against a Trump-aligned Republican, Jessica Henderson, who is campaigning on family values and promises to “save” District 90.

Rivera-Wagner is nonreligious and grew up in a variety of faith communities. He asserts that government is strongest when it does not impose religion onto its democratic purpose. He fully supports the separation of state and church, which has led him to defend religious freedom, oppose all discrimination based on faith and ensure that public policy is grounded in reason and evidence. He contends that rewriting our nation’s history to suggest that the United States was founded upon Christianity does a disservice to genuine American history and its diversity.

When reelected, Rivera-Wagner’s work will continue to reflect the principle that the government must serve every person equally — regardless of religion. He will only support policies that keep the government neutral on all matters of religion. He asserts that public funding, contracts and government programs must all be administered fairly and equally, and that no public dollars should fund religious instruction, proselytization or discrimination. Fully funding public schools and safeguarding reproductive freedom in Wisconsin are top priorities for Rivera-Wagner.

The FFRF Action Fund joins a variety of local unions, Moms Demand Action, Wisconsin Conservation Voters, Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich and others in endorsing Rivera-Wagner.
