The FFRF Action Fund, Freedom From Religion Foundation’s lobbying arm, is excited to announce the launch of its new Express School Board Endorsement Form.

The form is for candidates who have already been endorsed by the Fund’s trusted allied partners, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, Our Schools USA and We the People for Education, or are incumbents seeking the same office. Our allied partners have similar values and endorsement criteria, which focus on viable candidates and vetting processes. This streamlined process is designed to effectively endorse candidates committed to upholding secular values, promoting inclusive education and ensuring a robust separation of church and state in public schools.

“Working with and developing trusted relationships with organizations that have similar values to the FFRF Action Fund will help us be successful in 2024 and beyond,” says FFRF Governmental Affairs Director Mark Dann. “The ‘express endorsement’ process will allow vetted candidates to find more supporters and resources on the campaign trail.”

Sean Meloy, vice president of Political Programs at LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, highlights the intersectional benefits of the express form: “Endorsing pro-equality candidates for school boards is crucial for the advancement of LGBTQ+ rights. This express form will enable us to get support to those who are dedicated to creating inclusive environments for all students — regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.”

Christina Gagnier, chief executive officer of Our Schools USA, pointed out the broader impact on educational policies: “Our Schools USA is proud to collaborate with the FFRF Action Fund on this initiative. The expedited endorsement process will help us all elect candidates who are committed to evidence-based education policies that benefit all students and protect public education for all families.”

Emphasizing the collaborative effort, Tiffany Van Der Hyde of We the People for Education adds: “We the People for Education is excited about the launch of FFRF Action Fund’s Express Endorsement Form. This initiative aligns with our mission to support candidates who advocate for a fair and equitable education system. By working together, we can ensure that school boards are led by individuals who prioritize the best interests of our children.”

In the coming months, FFRF Action Fund plans to add more trusted allies whose endorsements would qualify candidates for an express endorsement.
