FFRF AF endorses Terry Goodin for Indiana lieutenant governor
The FFRF Action Fund is pleased to endorse former Indiana State Representative Terry Goodin in his bid to be lieutenant governor.
For 20 years, Goodin worked as a farmer, public school superintendent, and state representative. After leaving his position at the state house, he worked as the State Director for Rural Development for the United States Department of Agriculture.
As superintendent of Crothersville Community Schools for 24 years, Goodin developed one of the first Early College initiatives in the state. This initiative allowed high school students to receive college credit and even a college-level degree by the time they earned their high school diploma.
In the Indiana House of Representatives, Goodin served in leadership as the House Minority Leader in 2017. His political priorities include public education, agriculture, and rural development. He voted against Indiana’s S.B. 101 in 2015, a Religious Freedom Restoration Act that legalized religious based discrimination.
Goodin’s opponent, Micah Beckwith, is a far-right extremist podcasting preacher who published a video on October 18, 2022, proclaiming “3 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BE A CHRISTIAN NATIONALIST.” In September of 2024, Beckwith stated that Indiana residents face a choice between “godly boldness” and “the Jezebel spirit.” The Republican gubernatorial nominee, Mike Braun, selected a less extreme running mate, but party Republicans selected Beckwith over Braun’s pick.
Goodin faces a difficult race in Indiana, so he will need all the support he can get as he runs alongside Jennifer McCormick, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate.
