FFRF AF endorses Lucas Kunce for U.S. Senate
Lucas Kunce is a Democrat looking to unseat current Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO). Kunce has been a vocal supporter of reproductive freedoms and LGBTQIA+ issues. He is an attorney and former Marine combat veteran.
Kunce’s opponent, Republican Senator Josh Hawley, requires little introduction. He is an avowed Christian nationalist and election denier. At the recent National Conservatism Conference, Hawley gave the keynote address titled The Christian Nationalism We Need. In that speech he espoused views of the U.S. being a “Christian nation” and perpetuated the notion that Christians are being persecuted by the “left.” Hawley is dangerous to democracy and must be defeated.
Kunce has never held public office, but is mounting an impressive campaign and closing the gap between him and Hawley. This race will be tough for Kunce, with the Cook Political Report marking the race as “Solid R.” While the race is an uphill battle, Kunce is the vastly superior choice in terms of state/church separation and other relevant issues supported by the FFRF Action Fund.
He is endorsed by Abortion Access Missouri and a large number of labor organizations.
