Alabama has introduced new voucher schemes. Three bills are moving through the Legislature, so the time to act is now. Don’t let taxpayer dollars go to waste funding religious institutions!
SB 202, SB 263 and HB 442 all aim to create new voucher-like schemes and expand existing programs. This is just an excuse for private — usually religious — institutions to receive state funding. These programs force public schools to work with a reduced budget, robbing students of a well-resourced education. If parents want their children to attend private schools, then it’s their responsibility to fund them, not Alabama taxpayers’.
These bills have been gaining momentum as the legislative session goes on, so please take action before any of them pass. We have included suggested language through the “Take Action” button that can be customized to your liking. For best results, please be succinct and polite.
