Senate Bill 1016 needs to be stopped!
Anti-vaccine lawmakers are one step closer to putting religious dogma ahead of public health. SB 1016 has a hearing scheduled on Thursday, March 26 with the House Committee on Rural Economic Development. This bill could very well put the needs of Arizona residents at risk, just to satisfy the wants of religious beliefs. Please fight for evidence-backed healthcare today!
SB 1016 would expand the scope of religious exemptions from solely COVID-19 vaccinations to any “medical product,” requiring employers to provide “reasonable accommodations” for employees whose sincerely held religious beliefs prevent them from taking these products. Expanding religious exemptions pits religious dogma against proven, effective science. When this happens, and religious dogma prevails, public health loses.
Last year, the United States saw the highest increase in measles cases in 33 years. It is no coincidence that this spike aligns with the Trump Administration’s anti-science stance and rhetoric. It is also no coincidence that the spike comes at a time when vaccine exemptions for religious and personal beliefs are rising across the United States. Don’t let religious extremist lawmakers put your health at risk — Take action today!
Again, this bill will be heard on March 26, so don’t let this opportunity to stop it go to waste!
