Anti-trans legislation pushed by religious zealots is coming to the fore in Wisconsin! The state of Wisconsin should not interfere with legitimate medical decisions, or ban young kids from playing sports.

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, Republicans will hold hearings for three bills targeting trans youth in the state. These are moves out of the Christian nationalist playbook that are being seen across the country, and now they’re in FFRF Action Fund’s home state. Take action today to keep dogma from being used against vulnerable Wisconsin youth.

AB 377 and AB 378 target trans athletes at both high school and college levels, forbidding trans individuals from playing on a sports team that matches their gender. Meanwhile, AB 465 prohibits gender-affirming care for individuals under the age of 18. These three bills further the fear campaign against the transgender community and would force bible-based gender roles onto Wisconsin residents by law. It’s time to tell these lawmakers that this archaic view doesn’t reflect society. Help us keep their religion out of our government and private lives — act today.

If you’re interested in voicing your opposition to these bills in person, the times and locations to sign in and testify at  the Wisconsin Capitol for the hearings tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 4, are:

  • AB 378 (college athlete ban): 9 a.m. at 412 East
  • AB 377 (K-12 athlete ban): 9 a.m. at 417 North GAR
  • AB 465 (medical care ban): noon at North Hearing Room
