Arizona lawmakers are putting religious dogma ahead of proven science again!

Senate Bill 1016 has just been introduced and already has a hearing for tomorrow, Jan. 21, and we need your help to stop it. Anti-vaccine lawmakers are counting on the short turnaround time on the hearing to sneak this bill through. Arizona public health needs to be protected — Please act today, and don’t let religious exemptions put your health at risk!

SB 1016 would expand the scope of religious exemptions from solely COVID-19 vaccinations to any “medical product,” requiring employers to provide “reasonable accommodations” for employees whose sincerely held religious beliefs prevent them from taking these products. Expanding religious exemptions pits religious dogma against proven, effective science. When this happens, and religious dogma prevails, public health loses.

Last year, the United States saw the highest increase of measles cases in 33 years. It is no coincidence that this spike aligns with the Trump Administration’s anti-science stance and rhetoric. It is also no coincidence that the spike comes at a time when vaccine exemptions for religious and personal beliefs are rising across the United States. Don’t let religious extremist lawmakers put your health at risk — Take action today!
