You can urge your lawmakers to stand up for children’s health today!
An important bill has been waiting for action since its introduction. S. 1557 will eliminate religious vaccine exemptions in Massachusetts. As this bill hasn’t yet seen any traction, now is the perfect time for residents to urge their legislators to support it. Please reach out to your representatives and urge them to support public health in schools!
S. 1557 is currently sitting in the Senate Public Health Committee, and we need your help to get it moving.
SAVE THE DATE: Early next year, on January 28, 2026 supporters of S. 1557 are organizing a day of action. If you are interested in participating, please make a note on your calendar! We will follow up with more details on this event.
S. 1557 also mandates that all schools, including public, private and charter, report the total number of children who are immunized and those exempted from immunization requirements. This initiative aims to enhance public health by improving transparency and monitoring of vaccination rates in educational settings, aligning with efforts to prevent future disease outbreaks.
The FFRF Action Fund supports initiatives that prioritize research-based disease treatment and prevention, such as vaccines, over outdated religious thinking. Vaccines provide tangible health benefits and protect communities from an array of potentially deadly illnesses. Due to widespread vaccination, diseases like polio, measles and smallpox have been virtually eradicated in the United States. By following vaccination guidelines, Massachusetts residents can protect children and adults who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons by attaining herd immunity.
