FFRF Action Fund needs your advocacy to stop a dangerous bill in its tracks!

Senate Bill 160, also known as the CROWN Act, is moving through the Missouri legislature. This bill carries with it dangerous discriminatory practices that would allow for blatant religious discrimination in schools. Please act now, and keep education free from religious discrimination!

SB 160 would legalize multiple discriminatory policies in education settings. The bill contains restroom provisions, mandating sex-based restrooms in private schools, and even prohibits local governments from adopting inclusive policies. Additionally, it seeks to undermine free speech by forcing public colleges to recognize and support campus groups that discriminate based on religion, sexual orientation or political ideology. These two sections of the bill seek to advance explicitly Christian nationalist ideologies on students as an attempt to further the myth that America is a “Christian nation.” Our secular Constitution expressly prohibits state funding from being used for religious purposes — which this bill directly contradicts. Please act now, and prevent this bill from becoming law!

Again, this bill will be heard on May 5th, so please act today! We have included talking points through the “Take Action” button, which you can edit to your liking by clicking the pencil icon. For best results, please be succinct and polite. For extra impact, you will be directed to a phone script to call your legislator after you email them. Please take the extra minute to call them if you can!
