TAKE ACTION: Keep Pennsylvania state funds out of voucher schemes

Pennsylvania lawmakers are trying to sneak a voucher program through the Legislature! An upcoming bill would disguise a common religious scheme by surrounding it with valid funding projects. This is, no doubt, a tactic used by Christian nationalists to further their agenda of indoctrination. Take action today to stop voucher programs from being expanded!

HB 479 is a budget bill that would expand funding to multiple necessary programs — but was amended to include language that would increase funding to existing school choice programs. Christian nationalists use the myth of school choice to “save” children from failing public schools despite the fact that studies have shown that students at private, usually religious, schools see no benefit over students at public institutions. This money would only be used to further funding to religious institutions, forcing public schools to make do with less funds. Don’t let lawmakers reroute taxpayer money to further their agenda!

This bill has moved quickly through the legislative process, so please take a moment to contact your state representatives and senators, telling them to oppose this bill! We have provided suggested language through the “Take Action” button, which can be customized to your liking. For best results, please be succinct and polite.
