Gov. Bill Lee has designated the entire month of July as “a time of prayer and fasting in Tennessee.” Please contact the governor today and tell him to rescind this offensive proclamation!
FFRF has sent Lee a letter critiquing the proclamation. Co-Presidents Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor inform the governor in the letter that he does not speak for all Tennesseans when he “seeks God’s hand of mercy healing on Tennessee.” The letter also educates Lee about the importance of a secular government, which protects the rights of conscience of everyone rather than favoring those who share the governor’s personal religious beliefs.
Please act today and let Lee know that it’s not his place to declare a month of prayer for Tennessee! We’ve included suggested language through the “Take Action” button that can be customized to your liking. For best results, please be succinct and polite.
Thank you for taking the time to make sure that secular voices are heard! We must not allow theocratic proclamations like this to go unchallenged.
