Tennessee public schools need your help to stay secular!
Yesterday we asked you to tell your state representative to keep religious education out of public schools. Now we need you to convince your state senator that schools shouldn’t be forced to put up Ten Commandments displays.
The Tennessee Senate is going to consider this bill tomorrow, March 19, so please take a moment today to express your opposition with our automated system. SB 303 has been amended and would now force schools to display the Ten Commandments in a prominent location. The bill attempts to claim that the religious text is historical, with the same significance as the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. It’s vital that this bill be stopped now, rather than waiting to challenge these displays in court!
This bill is moving fast, so please contact your senator now. We have included suggested language through the “Take Action” button that can be edited by clicking or tapping on the pencil icon. The best way to get a lawmaker’s attention is to share your personal perspective, so please take the time to share your own story if you can.
Additionally, after sending the emails, you will be prompted to call your senator as well — even leaving a phone message shows your dedication to the cause! For best results, please be succinct and polite.
