Illinois legislators are pushing for unconstitutional use of tax dollars. The Illinois House Committee on Appropriations — Elementary and Secondary Education will be hearing a bill on March 28 that threatens to strip funding from public schools. Take action now to protect secular education!

House Bill 1573 would expand the Education Savings Act, allowing parents to divert taxpayer funding from public schools. While this is done under the myth of providing a parent with a choice of school for their child, what this really means is that public schools lose funding that will instead be given to private, almost always religious, institutions. Studies have shown that voucher programs offer no benefit to students regardless of their school. Illinois’ failed voucher scheme is scheduled to expire this year, so long as the Legislature does not renew it. Don’t let Illinois public schools lose funding, and fight for students’ right for a well-funded education!

This bill will be heard tomorrow, March 28, so please take action today! We have provided suggested language through the “Take Action” button, which can be customized as you see fit. For best results, please be succinct and polite.
