Michigan legislators need to hear from you today! The House Judiciary Committee will be hearing a series of great bills tomorrow, May 10. Take action today to help curb religious abuse!

HB 42934302 would raise the minimum marriage age to 18 with no exceptions. Although most minors who marry are 16 or 17 at the time, Michigan law currently has no minimum age for marriage, and the reality is that minors, lacking adult rights, can be easily forced to marry and become trapped in those marriages. While the federal criminal code prohibits sex with a child age 12 to 15, it specifically exempts those who first marry the child. Michigan should not allow its children to fall victim to this disgusting loophole for child rape! Help make Michigan the ninth state to ban child marriage!

These bills are vital to keep abusers from having easy access to their victims, so please show the committee how important they are to you! We have provided suggested language which can be customized to your liking. For best results, please be succinct and polite.
