SCR 24 would allow the State Preservation Board to authorize construction of a monument depicting the Virgin Mary with a fetal Jesus on the Texas state Capitol grounds. This monument is an inappropriate use of public land that seeks to promote a religious agenda. And it pushes an obvious anti-abortion message. The Texas Capitol already thrusts religion onto residents with a Ten Commandments monument, and now legislators are trying to further the damage already done. Take a stand to support the abortion cause — and keep the Capitol free from this monument!
