An Arkansas bill needs to be stopped! House Bill 1615 was sped through committee hearings without much vocal opposition. This bill would have dangerous sweeping impacts on public interest, so please don’t delay in taking action.

HB 1615 would amend the already existing Religious Freedom Restoration Act to further cater to religious individuals. This bill would create blanket religious exemptions to prevent common sense measures to be enacted in any case. This bill would create religious exemptions that allows certain people to circumvent measures that the government has determined to be in the best interest of the public. In November, Arkansas voters rejected a similar measure to  amend the state Constitution. The amendment, like this bill, would have allowed government entities to restrict certain religious practices unless there is a “compelling” reason to do so. This is often an impossible burden for the government to meet, even when such restrictions are in the public’s best interest. It’s time to make your voice heard again — Don’t let legislators continue to push for religious privileges!

This bill has passed the House and a Senate committee already. It is now headed to the full Senate for a vote, so it’s time for Arkansans to urge senators to reject it! We have included suggested action through the “Take Action” button, which can be customized to your liking. For best results, please be succinct and polite.
