FFRF Action Fund needs your help to stop a religious medical discrimination bill!
Senate Bill 955 recently passed through both chambers of government and is now sitting on Gov. Bill Lee’s desk waiting for action. This bill carries the dangerous precedent of allowing medical providers and insurance companies to reject care based on personal religious beliefs. We need your help urging the governor not to allow this bill to become law. Please take action today and urge Lee to veto this bill!
SB 955, a so-called Medical Ethics Defense Act, allows healthcare providers and insurance companies to refuse treatment based on religious objections — and even worse, patients wouldn’t be informed that these treatments aren’t available for them. This blatantly enables religious-based discrimination, bringing real harm to reproductive and LGBTQ-plus rights in Tennessee. Tennessee residents deserve better than to have their healthcare ripped away from them based solely on religious thinking. Please act today!
The legislative session in Tennessee is almost over, so please act quickly to fight back against this bill! We have included talking points through the “Take Action” button that you can edit to your liking. For best results, please be succinct and polite. For extra impact, you will be directed to a phone script to call legislators after you email them. Please take the extra minute to call them if you can!
(Note: You must live in Tennessee in order to take part in this action alert.)
