We once again need your help! The Texas Legislature is considering companion bills that would severely cripple secular, public education for the foreseeable future. Please take action today!
House Bill 5261 and Senate Bill 8 are companion bills that combine a parents’ bill of rights and a voucher scheme. These bills would allow for parents to object to school materials if they’re deemed inappropriate to children. These objections are very often religiously motivated and targeted at age-appropriate LGBTQ education materials. As if that weren’t enough, the voucher aspect of these bills would further wound public schools by funneling tax dollars into private, usually religious, institutions. Voucher bills operate on the myth of school choice. These bills disregard the best interest of students by prioritizing religious comfort! Don’t let them pass!
