Indiana legislators are pushing a dangerous bill. House Bill 1608 has been modeled after Florida’s controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill and is threatening Indiana children. Take action today to prevent religious fear-mongering from taking over schools!

HB 1608 would prohibit any school discussion of sexuality in certain grades, and would force teachers to inform parents if a student requests to be referred to by a different name than what’s on their birth certificate. Even more extreme than that, all requests must be submitted at the beginning of the school year. This identity policing is being pushed by outdated religious thinking that harshly punishes children for being honest and open with teachers or other school mentors. This dogmatic thinking will paint targets on children’s backs!

This bill is moving very quickly through the Legislature. Please urge your representative to vote against this bill, before it’s too late! We have provided suggested language through the “Take Action” button, which can be customized as you see fit. For best results, please be succinct and polite.
