The National Day of Reason resolution has been proposed by Rep. Jamie Raskin, co-chair of the Congressional Freethought Caucus, as a counter to the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 4. The resolution urges Americans to focus on the importance of reason, critical thought, the scientific method and free inquiry to resolve problems rather than turning to religion. A National Day of Prayer leaves out all nonreligious Americans, and threatens to further divide the country by embracing hateful religious rhetoric. Tell your member of Congress to honor the Constitution — and to remember reason, science and logic!
