Your representative needs to hear from you today to protect abortion rights. A trio of lawmakers have filed a discharge petition, a rarely used legislative tactic, to try to force a House vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act. Please contact your representative to sign the petition before tomorrow, Friday, June 23, and take a stand for abortion rights nationwide in this anniversary week of the disastrous Dobbs decision overturning the federal right to abortion care.

The act protects abortion rights by nullifying state abortion bans. It would guarantee the right for patients to receive abortion care and for healthcare professionals to provide abortions. Additionally, it would protect against medically unnecessary restrictions, such as mandatory ultrasounds, waiting periods, admitting privilege requirements and limits on medication abortion. Such restrictions create burdensome barriers to abortion access. The Women’s Health Protection Act, in short, would protect abortion access, even as theocratic lawmakers and courts attempt to repeal reproductive liberties.

The deadline for your representative to act is 9am on Friday, so please contact them now. We have included suggested language through the “Take Action” button, which can be customized to your liking. For best results, please be succinct and polite.
