Please urge your member of Congress now to vote against a school voucher amendment, to House Regulation 5, which could be voted on as soon as today — with sweeping nationwide effects on education.
Previously, HR 5 was a Parents Bill of Rights, which would open up school boards to be censored by parents deeming material inappropriate for students. Unfortunately, it just got worse. An amendment proposed to the regulation would create a new voucher program to funnel public funds to private, mostly religious institutions. It would transform Title 1, which exists to close achievement gaps and ensure equitable education, into a private school voucher program. Don’t let lawmakers put American education at risk!
The amendment was added very late in the hearings as an attempt to sneak it through, so please don’t wait to take action! We have included sample language through the “Take Action” button, which can be customized as you see fit.
