State/church separation is under attack in a unique way in Oklahoma! Your state representatives need to hear from you today about a troubling piece of legislation. Please act now!
There is a concerted effort to silence voices throughout Oklahoma! Senate Bill 1027 is a proposal that seeks to set caps on the amount of valid signatures from any given county, as disproportionately disenfranchising voters in more populous regions and dismissing valid voter signatures. Why does this matter to secular individuals? Because the Catholic Church is backing this proposal as a way to ensure that any ballot measures seeking to ensure reproductive rights are dead on arrival. Tell your representative to vote “No” on SB 1027. This bill is scheduled for a hearing tomorrow, so act now!
The Catholic Church is still reeling from their defeat in several states that voted to ensure access to abortion in states across the country. Now the church, along with other groups in Oklahoma, wants to silence the voices of the majority in the state. They know their views are unpopular, so they are resorting to disenfranchising voters. Do not let them silence you!
