TAKE ACTION: Help end child marriage in California!

An important bill needs your support!

Assembly Bill 2924, which will raise the marriage age to 18, needs your help to progress through the legislature. Please take action today and encourage the chair of the Assembly Judiciary Committee to put the bill on the schedule to protect children!

AB 2924 would raise the minimum age to get married to 18 with no exceptions. Under current law, there is no minimum age to get married as long as the child has consent from at least one parent or guardian. With the passage of this bill, California can be the 13th state to take a step toward truly protecting children. Please contact the committee today!

The bill was recently removed from the Judiciary Committee schedule by the committee chair. Chair Ash Kalra has pulled the bill off the agenda for next Tuesday’s committee meeting because the bill was not amended to lower the proposed minimum age to get married to 16 years old. If he does not add the bill back to the agenda, the bill will likely be dead.

We need you to reach out to your Assemblymember and have them urge Chair Kalra to reschedule the bill for a hearing without amendments! We’ve included suggested language through the “Take Action” button, which can be customized to your liking. For best results, please be succinct and polite.
