Private school voucher schemes may be coming to Kentucky!

A new constitutional amendment would siphon public school dollars to private, religious schools. This common scheme expanded in many other states last year, and now its proponents are threatening to rewrite the Kentucky state Constitution. Don’t let private schools indoctrinate children on your dime — take action today!

House Bill 208 masquerades itself as creating a “school choice” system, which would allow parents to choose where their children attend school. What it hides is that public schools would be robbed of their funding in order to create this program, which would force taxpayers to pay for tuition at private — usually religious — schools. The narrative of school choice is a myth, as many students attending private schools would have gone there anyway, and many students in rural areas, which this bill purportedly aims to help, don’t have access to a private school. Even worse, students attending private schools show no evidence of having an advantage over public school students, and private schools can discriminate against disfavored students with impunity. This is just another scheme by Christian nationalists to ensure that students are indoctrinated in their religion at taxpayer expense. Public school students need your voice to ensure they get a fulfilling education — take action today!
