A dangerous bill is being heard very soon!

The Alabama House Committee on Education Policy will be hearing House Bill 316 on Wednesday, April 17. This bill is threatening to impose religious indoctrination on public schools all over the state. Please take action today to keep chaplains away from children!

HB 316 would invite school districts to employ, or allow as volunteers, chaplains to meet with public school students. These chaplains do not need to be certified by the State Board of Education, unlike guidance counselors. This bill is part of a rapidly advancing movement by Christian nationalists to take advantage of the shortage of guidance counselors in order to indoctrinate students at a difficult time in their lives.

This bill will be heard on Wednesday, so please don’t delay in taking action! We encourage using our customizable talking points through the “Take Action” button to reach out to the committee both via phone and email. For best results, please be succinct and polite. Thank you.
